Rolls-Royce The Eighth Generation Phantom

Ninety-two years in the making, Rolls-Royce’s ‘tireless pursuit of perfection’ is visible in the newly unveiled eighth generation of Phantom. Heralding a new pathway in the global luxury industry, Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said the new Phantom “Is a creation of great beauty and power, a dominant symbol of wealth and human achievement. It is an icon and an artwork that embraces the personal desires of each of our individual customers.”

As the most technologically advanced Rolls-Royce ever, the new Phantom boasts an all-new ‘Architecture of Luxury’, and a 6.75 litre twin-turbo V12 engine. A new level of quality can be ascertained in the features Rolls-Royce has labelled ‘The Embrace’, ‘The Suite’ and ‘The Gallery’.

The Architecture of Luxury is the underlying all-aluminium spaceframe architecture that will henceforth be the basis of every Rolls-Royce model. The engineering behind the frame features revolutionary precision with barely visible join lines between body panels. For the connoisseur the benefits can be immediately appreciated in terms of ride, acoustics, seat comfort, exterior and interior attention to detail. Acoustic insulation has been made priority with double skin alloy on areas within the floor and bulkhead of the spaceframe, as well as ‘Silent Seal’ tires embedded with foam layers engineered to wipe out cavity noise.

With 800 engineers and designers involved in the making of the new Phantom, every step of the driving experience has been considered. ‘The Embrace’ is the transition from being outside the vehicle to inside. It is the ease at which one can enter and settle into the vehicle and by the touch of a sensor have the door self close, immediately enveloping you into your own private space. ‘The Suite’ is the benchmark in comfort and refinement found inside the vehicle, that one has come to expect from Rolls-Royce. Lastly, ‘The Gallery’ is a complete reinterpretation of the dashboard and instrument panel area, with a space in the upper dashboard that can be customised with a bespoke work of art.

As the flagship of the Rolls-Royce brand and considered the world’s foremost luxury item, the new Phantom is truly an evolution in the brand’s continuing desire to define luxury. Giles Taylor, Director of Design, believes the “Phantom is the epitome of effortless style, an historical nameplate that occupies a rarefied space in the luxury constellation and conjures a rare magic all of its own. New Phantom raises a glass to an illustrious design legacy whilst forging a modern and revitalised presence for the next era of Rolls-Royce design.”
